What I Do
I’m going to teach you some things to begin connecting and coordinating your voice. We’re going to start singing very early on, which, depending upon where you are in the process will involve me introducing you to some things I think appropriate for you at the time, and you bringing in things you want to sing. Quite likely I’ll start making musical adjustments to the songs we’re working on (such as key changes, feel changes, tempo changes and possible other modifications) for where you are at the moment, with a constant eye on raising the difficulty level as your skill level increases. During this time we’ll keep adding very functional vocal techniques that we start applying immediately and adding on to. It is important that the elements of voice “grow up” together. So as we learn technique, we immediately start learning how to use it in context to real singing and performance.
I teach a lot, and I can go very fast, but I’ll always be in touch with what you really need to make the next steps towards excellence. There is just no rushing some elements of singing, and you’ll always have a lot to take with you to practice and apply to whatever singing you’re already doing.
